The Manjopik Bintang tradition is a unique tradition that has been passed down from ancestors and has become a cultural heritage carried out by the people of Pulau Busuk Village, Inuman District. In the Manjopik Bintang tradition, there is a communication activity in which the interaction contains meaning in the form of physical objects and spoken words. The procession in the Manjopik Bintang tradition is that the Anak Pancar is picked up and returned by the Induk Bako by bringing a Bintang which aims to describe the form of gratitude and responsibility of the Induk Bako towards the Anak Pancar and to establish a relationship between the Anak Pancar and Bako. The purpose of this research is to analyze the communicative situation, communicative events and communicative acts in the Manjopik Bintang tradition at wedding ceremonies in Pulau Busuk Village, Inuman District, Kuantan Singingi Regency.
This study uses the theory of ethnographic communication. Qualitative method with an ethnographic communication approach. The location of the study was in Pulau Busuk Village, Inuman District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The technique of determining informants used the purposive technique, the informants in this study numbered eight people. The object of ethnographic research is the communication of the Manjopik Bintang tradition at a wedding ceremony in Pulau Busuk Village, Inuman District. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation.
The results of the study explain that the communicative situation in the Manjopik Bintang tradition consists of the location of implementation. Then the communicative event includes the type of event which is the type of request. The topic of the Manjopik Bintang tradition is to indicate that Anak Pancar arrives at the house of the Bako Parent and is blessed by Bako. The function and purpose are to maintain the ties of brotherhood between Anak Pancar and the Bako Parent. The setting is carried out at the Bako Parent's house. The participants are Niniak Mamak, Chieftain, Induk Bako, Bako, Anak Pancar. The form of the message is verbal and non-verbal, the content of the message is advice and guidance. The sequence of actions in this tradition starts from picking up Anak Pancar, Anak Pancar at Bako's house, praying with Niniak Mamak and Bako, Mararak Anak Pancar, playing the traditional musical instrument of Kuantan Singingi. The rules of interaction are found in advice and guidance. The norms in this tradition are found in the values of politeness, mutual cooperation and the values of obedience and obedience to customs. Furthermore, the communicative acts of the Manjopik Bintang tradition consist of verbal and non-verbal messages.
