Depressive symptoms is one of the mental problems which often found in elderly people especiallywho lived in nursing homes.Depressive symptomsis also one of the intrinsic risk factorsfor falls among elderly people. The relationship between depressive symptoms and falls in elderly people is associated with cognitive functionimpairment which affect mainly in attention. It may result unsteadiness in elderly people which can increase the risk of falls.The aim of this study was to determine the relation of depressive symptoms with history offall among elderly people at Khusnul Khotimah Nursing Home in Riau Province. This is an analytical observational study with cross-sectional design involving 32 elderlyabove 60 years by usingtotal sampling method.The Geriatic Depression Scale-15 (GDS-15) andfall historyquestionnaire is used to evaluate depressive symptoms and history offall in elderly people. The data was analyzed by using Chi-Square test.
