Aspek Biologi Ikan Patin (Pangasius Hypophthalmus) Yang Dipelihara Dengan Manipulasi Fotoperiod Dan Pemberian Pakan Yang Diperkaya Kunyit
Manipulation of photoperiod may affects the bahavior as well as physiology of fish in general, while the addition of turmeric powder in fish feed may increase the health status of the fish. By manipulating the photoperiod and feeding the fish with turmeric enriched fish feed pellets, the growth of the fish might be boost up. To understand the effects of photoperiod manipulation and turmeric enriched fish feed toward biological aspects of P. hypopthalmus, a research was conducted on July – September 2019. A Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 photoperiod treatments and 4 turmeric treatments (D12T0, D120T0.5, D12T0,7, D12T0.9, D18T0, D18T0,5, D18T0,7, D18T0,9, D24T0, D24T0,5, D24T0,7, D24T0,9), with 3 repetition was applied. The fishes were reared in tarp tanks (75x50x60cm),6-8 cm TL and 4-5 g BW, 25 fishes/ pond. The fishes were sampled once/14 days, 3 fishes/ treatment. Parameters measured were behavior, weight, growth, daily growth rate, survival rate, condition factors, feed efficiency and FCR, IHS, heart color, heart texture, IVS and water quality (temperature, pH, DO, Ammonia). Results shown that the photoperiod clearly affects the behavior of fish. During the dark, fish tend to be in the surface, swimming actively, do not form group, sensitive to light and very aggressive in taking food provided. In contrast, during the light period, the fish was less active, tend to form a group in the bottom of the tank, less sensitive to light and less aggressive in taking food. Data obtained indicate that photoperiod affects behavior of the fish in general. The fish grow best in the D24T0.7 (24 hours dark and turmeric 0.7 g), with an average body weight by the end of the experiment was 55,8 g, Total length 189.3 mm and daily growth rate was 5,17% and Feed Efficiency 86% and FCR 1.16, and survival rate was 97%. In all treatment, there were changing in HSI, VSI, color and texture of the liver troughout the experiment. The HSI and VSI was 1.4% - 4.0% and 4.3% - 14.3% in the 14th day and became 1.2% - 5.9 % dan 4.3 %- 22% in the 56th day. The highest HSI and VSI was in the D24T0.7 treated fish, it was 5.2% and 22% Respectively by the end of the experiment. The color of the liver tend to be pale and the texture become firm due to fat accumulation. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the combination of photoperiod and turmeric feed positively affects the growth of P. hypophthalmus.
