Identifikasi Jenis Dan Sebaran Spasial Mikroplastik Pada Sedimen Di Pesisir Timur Pulau Karimun Besar Provinsi Kepulauan Riau
Microplastics known as a micro-particle of plastic wastes that is degraded through chemical processes originating from human activities that can cause very significant pollution, endanger the marine-life and environment, and humans through the use of aquatic resources and fisheries. The aim of the study is to determine type, abundance and distribution of microplastic spatially in sediments of the east coast Karimun Besar Island. The method used is survey method and laboratory analysis that is taking surface sediment at two types of depth using 4 inch paralon pipe. Stations are placed based on hydrodynamic conditions by placing quadran in the highest and the lowest tidal boundary area. The result of the research found 3 types of microplastic, fibres (90,33%), films (6,92%) and fragments (2,75%). Microplastic abundance in sediments was found nearly 1571,67 – 1622,50 particle/kg sediment. One-way ANOVA and t-test analysis showed that the quantity of microplastic between stations and between two different depths were not significantly different (p > 0,05). Based on t-test analysis of two different zone p (0,001) < 0,05 was significantly different, microplastics were more widely distributed at the lowest tidal boundary area.
