Abstract: one aspect developed from an early age. Language is a medium of communication because it gives the child the skills to communicate and express himself so that the child can be part of his social group. Media is a tool that serves to convey an information. The media is also everything that can be used to transmit messages from the sender to the receiver so that it can arouse the child's thoughts, feelings, concerns and interests in such a way that the learning process takes place. This study aims to determine the ability of reading early can be improved through the use of letter card media, to find out how the use of letter card media can improve the ability to read early and to determine the magnitude of the increase in the ability to read early by through the use of letter card media in children aged 4-5 years in TK Nusantara in Simpang Raya Singingi Hilir Kuantan Singingi Regency .This research has been conducted on March to April 2017 at TK Nusantara Simpang Raya in Singingi Hilir Kuantan Singingi Regency. This research is a type of research using classroom action research ( CAR ) which is done in two cycles. Each cycle consists of the stage of planning, making, observation and reflection. The subjects of this study were children aged 4-5 years, amounting to 15 children. Research data obtained through observation method and data analysis done with quantitative descriptive analysis technique. The results showed that the media card letters can increase early reading in children aged 4-5 years. This can be seen from the increase of the average percentage of the ability to read the beginning before the cycle to the first cycle of 35%, cycle I to cycle II by 45% and before cycle to cycle II of 97%. Thus, the media of the letter card can improve the early reading ability in children aged 4-5 years at Nusantara Kindergarten in Simpang Raya Singingi Hilir Kuantan Singingi Regency.
