Peran Perempuan Sebagai Anggota Legislatif Di Dprd Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti Periode 2014-2019

This research was conducted in Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti, exactly at the office of legislative members. This study aimed to determine the things that encourage and inhibit the participation and contribution of women in political parties and legislative and their efforts in realizing gender equality. This study was titled ““Peran Perempuan Sebagai Anggota Legislatif Di DPRD Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti Periode 2014-2019””. The main issue of this study was how women can choose to participate in politics with the various barriers that occur and make contributions and realize gender equality. Sampling in this research was by sensus sampling. The samples are 5 people. The method used was Kualitatif Descriptive method with Kualitatif data analysis. The data filtering instruments used were observation, interview and documentation. The results of this study indicated women who participated in politics were generally first encouraged by their husbands, after getting the know of politics deeper there was an incentive in them to do more for the community, and it was becaused of women's representation in political participation was very small. Barriers that occur when they participated in political activities such us from culture, environment, and education. As long as they become a members of the party and the legislature they performed their duties well and make efforts such as freedom of expression, persistence in politics, political sausageization and forming a special women organization so that making similar the position of women and men in political participation
