ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is: to find out what factors influence the community to choose Syamsuar-Edi Nasution in the election of the Governor of Riau in 2018 in Tangkerang Tengah Village, Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City. This research is included in the type of survey research. the location of the study was carried out in Pekanbaru City especially in the Marpoyan Damai and Tampan sub-districts. The population in the study amounted to 207 voters from the Syamsuar-Edi pair. To determine the research sample, researchers used a random sample technique, which is the determination of samples with random. Based on calculations, a sample of 37 people was obtained.
Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there are three factors that influence the community to choose Syamsuar-Edi Nasution in the election of the Governor of Riau in 2018 in Tangkerang Tengah Village, Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City, namely sociological, psychological and rational factors. the factors influencing the community to choose Syamsuar-Edi Nasution in the election of the Governor of Riau in 2018 in Tangkerang Tengah Subdistrict Marpoyan Damai District of Pekanbaru City consisted of 3 aspects, namely sociological, psychological and rational aspects. Of the three aspects, rational aspects occupies the top factor influencing the community to choose Syamsuar-Edi Nasution in the election of the Governor of Riau in 2018 in Tangkerang Tengah Sub-District Marpoyan Damai Pekanbaru City with a gain of 91.4%, psychological factors occupy the second position with a percentage of 77.0%, following sociological factors of 6.8%.
