Pengaruh Pemberian Em4 Pada Biofilter Untuk Menurunkan Bod5 Dan Cod Limbah Cair Rumah Makan
Abstrak
Restaurant liquid waste is rich in BOD5 dan COD and thus needs to be processed
before being flown to environment. A study aims to reduce the BOD5 dan COD
in that waste by using the biofilter that was added with EM4 has been conducted
in May-Juny 2019. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments,
without EM4 (P0), addition of 7.5 ml EM4 (P1), 10 ml EM4 (P2) and 12.5 ml
EM4 (P3) in the anaerob and aerob tanks and 3 replications was applied. The
treated waste was also used for rearing Cyprinus carpio juvenile. Results shown
that after being treated using the EM4 enriched biofilter the BOD5 recuded from
1,456 mg/ L to 116.0 mg/L and COD was from 3,797 mg/L to 246.3 mg/L. The
best treatment to reduce the BOD5 and COD was the addition of 10 ml EM4. The
survival of Cyprinus carpio juvenile reared in the treated waste was 86-93%. It
can be concluded that the addition of EM4 to the biofilter tanks were able to
reduce the BOD5 and COD in the restaurant liquid waste.
