Hubungan Kelimpahan Fitoplankton Dengan Produktivitas Primer Di Perairan Pantai Kecamatan Dumai Barat Provinsi Riau

ABSTRACT
Phytoplankton is the main autotrophic organism in marine life because it
has chlorophyll so it can photosynthesize. Whereas primary productivity is the
speed of photosynthesis. This research was conducted in November - December
2019 in the coastal waters of Dumai Barat District, Riau Province. This study
aims to determine the abundance of phytoplankton, determine the value of
primary productivity and determine the relationship of abundance of
phytoplankton with primary productivity in the coastal waters of Dumai Barat
District, Riau Province. The method used in this study is a survey method and the
determination of station points by purposive sampling. Measurement of primary
productivity directly in the field and identification of phytoplankton was carried
out at the Laboratory of Marine Biology, Faculty of Fisheries and Maritime,
University of Riau. Phytoplankton found consisted of 2 classes, namely
Bacillariophyceae 1 species and Cyanophyceae 1 species. The results of the
calculation of phytoplankton abundance ranged from 168 - 984 ind / L. The
results of productivity measurements ranged from 62.5 - 145.84 mgC / m2 / hour.
Simple linear regression test results of the relationship of abundance of
phytoplankton with primary productivity at each station are shown with a
mathematical equation Y = 45.027 + 0.0935X with a correlation coefficient (r) =
0.49 and a coefficient of determination (R2) = 0.24. There is a moderate
relationship between the abundance of phytoplankton with primary productivity in
coastal waters of Dumai Barat District, Riau Province.
