Model Pengelolaan Perikanan Gombang Berkelanjutan Berdasarkan Analisis Hasil Tangkapan Sampingan (Bycatch)
Operating a gombang gear in the Bengkalis waters may negatively affects the
sustainability of fish resources in the future as the catch was consist of the target
and the non-target species (bycatch and discard). To find out a gombang
sustainable fisheries management model based on bycatch and discard analysis, a
study was conducted. Samplings were done monthly. The catch were identified
and analyzed (SL, CL and maturity level) and were categorized as main catch
(MC), bycatch (BC) and discard (DC). Data were then analyzed seasonally, West
Season (Oct-Dec 2018), North Season (Jan-March 2019), East Season (April-June
2019) and South Season (July-Sept 2019). To design the management model of
the gombang fisheries, information obtained from the bycatch and discard data
analysis was supported by the SWOT and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)
method. Results shown that throughout the year, there were 41 types of organisms
captured (6MC, 32BC, and 3DC) and variations in the type of organism captured
are relatively small in each season. The species number of the catch are as follow:
6MC; 24BC and 3DC (West season), 6MC; 29BC and 2DC (North season), 6MC;
27BC and 2DC (East Season) and 6MC, 26BC and 3DC (South Season)
respectively. The highest number of species captured was during the North season.
All catch, however, are undersized and immature, except several small fish and
crustacean species. Based on the bycatch and discard data and the AHP result, a
sustainable gombang fisheries suggested is “the closure of fishing activities
during the North season”.
