Analisis Laju Sedimentasi Pada Perairan Muara Sungai Bokor, Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti, Provinsi Riau

This study was aimed to learn the types of sediment and the rate of sedimentation in the
coastal waters of Bokor estuary. It used survey method by taking samples from six sites
purposively. Then all samples were taken to marine science lab for further analysis. The
result showed that the sedimentation rate was high in the mouth of estuary, it is 14.267
– 16.520 mm/year. Furthermore, the sediment accumulation at the study sites ranged
from 0.0142 – 0.0165 m3/year and 47,083 – 54,006 kg/ha/year, and the sediment types
were dominated by sandy mud in the area under study. High sedimentation rate might
relate to high TSS values in the water column oh the river mouth, oceanographic factors
and intensive land use and local activities in the coastal area; the figures of TSS were
ranged from 136 – 398 mg/l.
