The problem of the Shipyard of the New Harbor was the availability of the timbers that were increasingly scarce and the difficulty in processing cooperation agreements with the timber supply companies that have obtained a license from the government for the Business License for Utilization of Timber Fores Products – Natural Forest to the government's lack of attention to the wood shipyard industry. This problem became an obstacle for the shipyard to develop. The biggest problem faced by the shipyard in the future is that if the shipyard does not get any more timber suppliers, the shipyard is threatened to close down and stop producing because of the lack of knowledge of the workers who work in this shipyard to build ships other than the timber ships. The purposes of this study were to determine how the management of the shipyard of the New Bagansiapiapi Harbor and to analyze what developments required for the shipyard of the New Bagansiapiapi Harbor in order to compete globally in the maritime industry. This study was conducted from June 20th to July 4th, 2020 because according to the results of interviews with the owners of the shipyard, the production increased in June-December. This study was located at the Shipyard of the New Bagansiapiapi Harbor, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The data obtained were analyzed by using a descriptive analysis and to know the development the data were analyzed by using SWOT analysis
. The shipyard of the new Harbor was a traditional timber shipyard with high skills of the craftsmanship that can produce large ships up to 250 GT. This shipyard had low technology and was managed by using a family management system. Based on the SWOT analysis carried out by the New Harbor Shipyard, it can still be developed because it was in a 1.51 quadrant. The strategic plans for the development of the New Harbor Shipyard were collaborating with the government to plant wood for ship raw materials in the form of industrial plantations and increasing the area of the location to build ships so that the shipyard can produce ships in a large number at that time.
