Implementasi Konvensi CEDAW (Convention on The Elimination of All Form of Discrimination Against Women) Oleh Pemerintah Indonesia Dalam Mengatasi Perdagangan Perempuan Di Indonesia Tahun 2007-2018
Indonesia ratified CEDAW in 1983 for better women lives. To protect women, Indonesian government enacted Undang-Undang No. 7 Tahun 1984. However, women trafficking in Indonesia was still rampant for the following two decades. A milestone came in 2007 when president of Indonesia announced Undang-Undang Nomor 21 Tahun 2007 to eradicate all form of human trafficking. This law enforcement need to be investigate for understanding the reasons.
This qualitative research collected data from books, journals, news from Antara, official document from Badan Kependudukan dan Keluarga Berencana Nasional (BKKBN), Badan Pembinaan Hukum Nasional (BPHN), CEDAW Working Group, and news from Detik. Contents about eradication of human trafficking were analyzed to answer why Indonesian government had the turning point. Perspective of constructivism for state level by Alexander Wendt helps to elaborate the issue.
The research showed that actions to eradicate human trafficking by Indonesian government resulted from pressures by the United Nations who persuaded Indonesia to be more serious in handling the issue. The United Nations also appointed Indonesia to lead International Meeting of Human Trafficking Group in Wina.
