Upaya Indonesia Terhadap Unesco Dalam Menjadikan Pantun Sebagai Warisan Budaya Dunia
Pantun is a culture in the form of a well-known oral tradition and is widely used in the Southeast Asian region. Pantun is known to come from Malay which is known to be inhabited in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, and South Thailand. This tradition is often used in people's lives either in traditional ceremonies or as a medium for expressing in everyday life. Pantun is known as a culture that is full of values, meanings and functions. The existence of Pantun as one of the cultural treasures of Indonesia should be preserved and introduced to the world. This paper will describe the efforts of Indonesia to UNESCO in making pantun as a world cultural heritage.
This research uses Soft Power theory which is supported by a constructivist perspective and cultural diplomacy consept to see Indonesia's efforts in realizing Pantun as a cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO. The level of analysis used in this research is the Nation-State analysis.
Indonesia's efforts were carried out by involving all relevant stakeholders from the Central Government, Local Government, Communities, and related institutions who participated in drafting the nomination text and supporting Pantun to be submitted to UNESCO. Then the Indonesian government took Malaysia, which also has Pantun to register with UNESCO through the Multinational Nomination. In era of globalization, Pantun is still actively used and popular in society. Based on this explanation, Pantun was submitted to the Representative List category.
