Motivasi Iran Mengintervensi Konflik Di Suriah
This research explains the motivation of Iran to intervene in the conflict in Syria. Since 2011, the situation in Syria has become unstable due to the conflict between the government and the rebels. Iran as an ally of Syria is concerned that the conflict could interfere with its interests in Syria. Therefore, Iran continues to provide its support for the Assad regime in Syria even though Iran's own economic situation is in trouble due to the oil embargo sanctions.
This study uses a realism perspective with a level of analysis of the nation state and is supported by theory foreign policy. This research is a qualitative research with explanative qualitative research methods, where the research data is obtained through literature study. This research focuses on the reasons Iran intervened during the Syrian conflict.
The results of this study state that Iran intervened in the Syrian conflict because Iran took advantage of Syria which has a strategic position in the Middle East region to spread its influence. Iran intervenes in military, economic, and political forms. Military intervention is divided into four, namely advisory missions, intelligence support, weapons assistance, and troop assistance.
