The role of the fisheries sector to economic growth of Kabupaten
Bengkalis-oriented on increasing the income of the fisheries sector, the efficiency
of fishing effort, increase employment, and increase productivity determine the
development and analyze the contribution of the fisheries sector in the economy of
the Regency of Bengkalis, with the purpose of research, namely : (1) Determine
the development and analyze the contribution of the fisheries sector in the
economy of the Regency of Bengkalis, (2) Determine the fishery sector as a base
or non base in the economy of the Regency of Bengkalis, (3) Analyze the structure
of growth and per capita income of the fisheries sector in the Regency of
Bengkalis, (4) to Know the specialization of the activities of the fisheries sector in
the economy of the Regency of Bengkalis and (5) to Formulate the development
strategy of the fisheries sector in the Regency of Bengkalis.
The contribution of the fisheries sector on the basis of constant prices
according to the business field in the province for 5 years (2015-2019) are at a
figure of 0.26% as 0.32%, Whereas the contribution of the fisheries sector with
the basis of constant prices without oil and gas are on a figure of 1.1% to 1.7%.
The value of the LQ of the sector of fisheries in Bengkalis Regency for five years
(2015-2019) less than 1 (LQ < 1) thus, the fisheries sector in the Regency of
Bengkalis is the non base. Comparison of economic growth and per capita income
of the fisheries sector in the province and in the Province of Riau on the basis of
constant prices put the fisheries sector in the Regency of Bengkalis is located in
quadrant IV (the fourth) that the fisheries sector in the Regency of Bengkalis is
relatively lagging, the Activities of the fisheries sector in the province is not
specialized or activities of the fisheries sector in the Regency of Bengkalis is
diverse. An alternative strategy for the development of the fisheries sector in the
Regency of Bengkalis i.e. capture fisheries, freshwater aquaculture, brackish
water aquaculture and processing of fishery products.
