Karakteristik Beton Pofa Dengan Penambahan Additive Silica Fume Di Air Gambut
ABSTRACT
This research aims to analyze characteristics of POFA (Palm Oil Fuel Ash)
concrete by using additive silica fume with PCC (Portland Composite Cement)
concrete as control and immersed for 0, 7, and 28 days in peat water. POFA is
used as a partial substitute material of cement with variations 0%, 20%, and 40%
which silica fume as additional material has constant levels in 10%. Mechanical
testing such as compressive strength and tensile strength after soaking for 0, 7,
and 28 days in peat water, while on fresh concrete testing such as slump and
setting time. The compressive strength plan is 20 MPa, and peat water as
immersion water of concrete has a pH 4,0-5,0. The results show that the
compressive strength of POFA variation concrete was higher than control
concrete at 0 days of immersion with the highest compressive strength value at
POFA 0% of 25,84 MPa. At 28 days of immersion, POFA 0% with silica fume
was higher than the control, but as the POFA level increased in mixture the
compressive strength value decreased and was lower than the control with the
lowest compressive strength value at POFA 40% of 24,69 MPa. The tensile
strength value increased with increasing immersion age of control concrete by
7,45% with a value of 2,865 MPa and POFA 40% was the most significant
decrease with increasing immersion age, that is 37,56% with a value of 1,969
MPa. The POFA variation of 0% and 20% was decreased at 28 days of
immersion with tensile strength values of 2,458 MPa and 2,438 MPa sequentially.
Based on the results of the test, it is concluded that silica fume as an added
material was a major role in increasing compressive and tensile strength, while
the POFA needs to be studied for its chemical content to determine the reactivity
of POFA for concrete. The use of POFA and silica fume in this study resulted in
compressive strength values exceeding of compressive strength plan at all
variations of the mixture and all immersion ages.
