Struktur Komunitas Makrozoobentos Di Perairan Pantai Utara Pulau Bengkalis Provinsi Riau
ABSTRACT
Macrozoobenthic community structure can be used as a bioindicator in determining the
pollution status of either fresh or marine ecosystem. The community structure consists of type,
abundance, diversity (H'), dominance (C) and uniformity (E) of the species. This research was
conducted in July to August 2020 in the waters of the North Coast of Bengkalis Island. The
water quality parameters measured in this study were temperature, salinity and pH. Three
sampling stations were selected, namely Jangkang Village (station I), Selat Baru Village (station
II), and Teluk Pambang Village (station III). The results of the study found 34 species of
macrozoobenthic organism belonging to 4 classes, namely gastropods, malacostraca, bivalvia,
and merostomata. The abundance of macrozoobentos from the three stations ranges from 2.93 –
5.26 Ind/m2, the diversity index (H') ranges from 2.56 – 2.85, the dominant index ranges from
0.25 – 0.33 and the uniformity index (E) ranges from 0.64 – 0.68. Water quality parameters are
as follows: temperature ranges from 29 - 31°C, salinity from 23 - 28 ppt, and pH from 7.5 – 7.9.
The abundance of macrozoobenthic organism between stations were significantly different (p <
0,05). Further study is required in order to explain the exact reason on what are the possible
causes on the differences of macrozoobenthic community structure found in the study area.
