The Heart of Borneo (HoB) Initiative is a cross-border conservation
cooperation initiative of three countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei
Darussalam which aims to manage trans-boundary areas, manage protected
areas, manage sustainable natural resources, develop ecotourism, and increase
human capacity based on the principles sustainable. These objectives are in
accordance with the programs agreed upon by the three countries. In the
management of regional initiatives in Indonesia, WWF-Indonesia is a non-state
actor who is the only one involved in the HoB Working Group (Pokja)
organizational structure that has been formed by the Indonesian government
based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry Number 382 / Menhut-II / 2011
concerning the Group. HoB National Work Program. In order to achieve the
sustainable development goals of the HoB Initiative, researchers found that WWF
plays several roles in the HoB program in Indonesia. These roles include
sustainable funding, assisting local governments in developing conservation
districts, building green business networks, and increasing human resource
capacity through collaboration with local initiatives.
