Upaya Plan International Mengkampanyekan “Girls Get Equal” Untuk Kepemimpinan Anak Perempuan Di Indonesia
Human Development Index (HDI) measures human development
achievements based on a number of basic components of quality of life. As a
measure of quality of life, HDI is built through three dimensions: Health,
knowledge and a decent life. In Indonesia, gender inequality still occurs, this
can be seen from the Indonesian Gender Inequality Index (GII), including still
high and still above the world average. Indonesia occupies the seventh position
under Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Viet Nam, Thailand and the
Philippines. Extra efforts need to be made by the government to go through
various policies and cooperate with institutions that support also concern on
gender issues. Plan International is here to help governments in the world,
especially in Indonesia, in reducing gender inequality in Indonesia.
This study uses qualitative methods with group analysis level.The
author uses the theory of Non Government Organization (NGO). To analyze
this case, the authors collected data from books, journals, websites,
dictionaries, annual reports on Plan International (PI) and Plan International
Indonesia (PII) activities as well as Plan International's official website as well
as Plan International Indonesia, regarding the efforts that Plan International
made in improve gender equality for girls in Indonesia.
The findings of this study resulted in several things. First; Plan
International carries out activitiesInternational Day of the Girls in the Girls
Get Equal campaign. Second; With the activities of the IDG commemoration,
Plan created an activity called Girls Leadership, and we will see that girls are
able to become leaders and can get the same opportunities in leading. Third;
the mechanism of Girls Leadership activities, also called Girls Takeover, which
later selected girls will lead in several agencies, both Government and nongovernment.
Selected girls will takeover important leaders in Indonesia at the
celebration of World Girls' Day.
