Peran United Nations Women Dalam Upaya Pencegahan Kasus Kekerasan Seksual Terhadap Wanita Di India Tahun 2018-2019
Speaking of violence against women, especially cases of sexual violence,
India occupies the top position as a country that accounts for many cases of rape,
sexual harassment, and various other gender inequalities. This research discusses
UN Women's efforts in its role to prevent acts of violence against women, namely
sexual violence experienced by women in India in 2018-2019.
The method used is descriptive method. Descriptive method is a method
that tries to collect, compile, interpret data which is then proposed by analyzing
the data or analyzing the phenomenon, in this case data on sexual violence which
has become an issue in international relations. The research data is obtained
from books, journals, official websites, and articles with valid sources that
support the author's research. The author uses a feminist perspective and a level
of group analysis. And the theory used in this research is the theory of the role of
international organizations by Biddle. According to Biddle, there are 3 roles for
an international organization, namely as a motivator, communicator and
intermediary. This theory assumes that most political behavior is the result of
demands or expectations on roles, which are expected to be owned by a person or
group, which will occupy a position in society.
The results of this study indicate that UN Women carries out its program
and role as an international organization by working together with the Indian
community, the Government of India and non-governmental organizations.
However, this program is currently running, so it has not demonstrated the
effectiveness of the program framework.
