Motivasi Cina Dalam Membangun Pangkalan Militer Di Djibouti

This research aims to explain China’s motive to build military base in
Djibouti. China and Djibouti’s partnership has been startedsince January 6th,
2016 by signing an agreement on security and defense strategy. In its agreement,
Djibouti offered military facilities such as using Djibouti as a port for the Chinese
Navy. The partnership carried out by China in building a military base in Djibouti
is a new China’s foreign policy for the first time. However, Djibouti is a very
small and barren country.
This research uses neorealism perspectve, geopolitic theory, national
interest concept and nation-state as its level analysis to analyze China’s motives
to build military base in Djibouti The data was collected from secondary data,
such as books, journal, thesis, and websites.
This research finds that China’s motives to build a military base in
Djibouti is to increase the important role of namely terrorist threats, which can
help dominate the role of China in the sovereignty of African countries. China
realized that Chinese Dream’s vision with an initiative to open up foreign secutiry
policies that make China asan open and social country and also to help protect
Chinese assets and citizens in Africa.
