Isolasi Dan Identifikasi Bakteri Indigenous Pada Sedimen Di Perairan Laut Dumai Provinsi Riau Sebagai Pendegradasi Mikroplastik
ABSTRACT
Nowadays, marine pollution due to microplastic, is a global concern. Microplastic particles have potential to cause damage to biota. One of solution to overcome the problem of microplastic pollution is by applying indigenous bacteria as microplastic degradator. This study was conducted to determine the type and ability of indigenous bacteria in sediments which are able to degrade microplastics. The research was conducted from October to December 2020. Sediment sampling was conducted in Dumai Sea Waters and sample was analyzed at the Marine Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Riau University. The bacteria were isolated on Nutrien Agar. The ability of bacteria to degrade microplastic was examined on cultur medium (TSB) added with PET plastic. The result indicated thas isolate ISL8 was able to degrade the microplastic with a percent degradation about 7%. Molecular identification of ISL8 using PCR (Polymer chain reaction) 16S rRNA method and GenBank analysis indicated that ISL8 is Bacillus sp.
