Pertumbuhan Bibit Kopi Varietas Liberika Terhadap Berbagai Komposisi Media Tanam Tanah Gambut Dan Ultisol
ABSTRACK
Coffee is one of the mainstay commodities of Indonesian plantations because
Indonesia is the third largest exporting country after Brazil and Vietnam. One type
of coffee that is widely grown in Indonesia is the Liberica type. One of the
obstacles in developing coffee on peatlands is the presence of phenolic acids
which are phytosic for plants and cause plant growth to be stunted. The purpose of
this study was to determine the effect of the combination of peat soil and mineral
ultisol on the growth of liberica coffee seedlings. Mixing Ultisol soil with peat
soil is expected to be a good seedling medium. However, the best composition for
the growth of Liberica coffee seeds is not yet known. The purpose of this study
was to determine the effect of the combination of peat soil and mineral ultisol on
the growth of liberica coffee seedlings. This research was conducted in the
experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. The study
lasted for 7 months starting in August 2020 until March 2021. The study was
conducted experimentally in the form of a completely randomized design (CRD)
with 5 planting media treatments, namely: 100% peat (M1); Ultisol 100% (M2),
Peat 50% + Ultisol 50% (M3), Peat 75% + Ultisol 25% (M4) and Ultisol 75% +
Peat 25% (M5). Each treatment was repeated three times to obtain 15
experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of three plants so that 45
plants were obtained. Parameters observed were seedling height (cm), number of
leaves (strands), stem diameter (mm), root volume (ml), seedling dry weight (g)
and root crown ratio. All combinations of peat and Ultisol planting media resulted
in the growth of Liberika coffee seedlings that were not different so that the best
combination of planting media was not found for the growth of coffee plant seeds.
