The coffee shop phenomenon is one of the public spaces where the place is attractive. It is
of the social function of the coffee shop, becomes not just for consumption space, but also
well-known among young people, such as students. It has various activities for lifestyle
image affected by modernism values. The research aims to know the background visits for
students to Coffee Shop Ugoku.Co and Titik Kumpul Coffee Brewers and the social
function at the coffee shop for students. A subject of the research by accidental sampling.
Based on the result of the research is students visit the coffee shop because of rational
choice considering the benefits. Furthermore, the function of space by Fourier Francois in
“the phalanxes” and the representative of space function by Henri Lefebvre is intelligibly
defined for recreation space, a relaxation space, a trend among young people to do social
activities that create a level of happiness in a small community.
