This study aims to: (1) determine the role of school principals in managing
teachers during the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) pandemic at SMP Negeri 2
Bangko Pusako, Rokan Hilir; (2) knowing the role of school principals in
supervising learning during the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) pandemic at
SMP Negeri 2 Bangko Pusako, Rokan Hilir. (3) knowing the role of the principal
in managing parents during the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) pandemic at
SMP Negeri 2 Bangko Pusako, Rokan Hilir. (4) knowing the role of the principal
in leading the school during the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) pandemic at
SMP Negeri 2 Bangko Pusako, Rokan Hilir. This type of research is descriptive
qualitative. Data collection techniques using document review, observation, and
interviews. Informants/subjects in this study are elements in schools that can be
used as data sources, in this case SMP Negeri 2 Bangko Pusako, Rokan Hilir. The
type of data obtained is in the form of qualitative descriptive data.
The results of the research on the role of school principals in managing
education during the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) pandemic at SMP Negeri
2 Bangko Pusako, Rokan Hilir which include: (1) Managing teachers which
includes aspects of building social closeness with teachers, aspects of learning
activities designed and carried out by the teacher, aspects of problem solving,
appreciation for teachers who continue to work hard and aspects of teachers
feeling not alone; has been executed very well. (2) Supervising Learning which
includes: Learning by the teacher, Meaningful learning, The teacher designs
diverse learning and does not depend on the method/technology, The learning
activities provided by the teacher have variations, Feedback and Social relations
with students have been very well implemented. (3) Managing Parents Which
Includes: Social relationships, health conditions and basic needs of students and
families, Diversity of student backgrounds, Health, parental concerns, and wellbeing,
Parents understand the importance of learning from home, Socialization of
distance learning goals and regulations, People parents do not act as "police
superintendents", or "supervising teachers" for students at home and Helping
parents to become facilitators, friends in the learning process has been carried
out very well. (4) Leading the School which includes: Responsive teachers,
Getting the latest technical guidelines, Parents/students not having an Android
cellphone, weak internet access, strategies to save data packages, treatment of
students who are in vulnerable groups, Treatment of students who still go to
school to play Avoiding noise if there are students/teachers exposed to COVID-19
and reflecting that the school program has been implemented well.
The conclusion that can be drawn is the role of school principals in
managing education during the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) pandemic. At
SMP Negeri 2 Bangko Pusako, Rokan Hilir can already be categorized as good.
