The purpose of this study was to determine how the influence of the father's role in child care on the independence of children aged 5-6 years in the sandalwood teacher housing in Pekanbaru. This research is a quantitative research with the type of simple regression correlation research. Based on the results of the calculation of the correlation test, a simple regression of 30,148 was obtained while the value of the child's independence was 0.334. This shows that there is an influence of the father's role in child care on the independence of children aged 5-6 years in the Cendana Teacher Housing in Pekanbaru City. The correlation value of simple regression shows that between the variables of the influence of the father's role in child rearing and the independence of the child has a negative effect. To test the significance of the effect can be known through the results of the analysis with a simple regression correlation. Based on the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test by paying attention to the numbers in the significance column (Sig) that is 0.123 and 0.150 is greater than 0.05 (0.123> 0.05 and 0.123> 0.05). Based on this, it can be concluded that the variables of the father's role in parenting and child independence are normally distributed at a significance level of 0.05, then all variables are statistically normally distributed and suitable to be used as research data. Based on the data, the coefficient of determination is a coefficient that explains the magnitude of the influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable. In this study, the magnitude of the influence of the father's role in child care on the independence of children aged 5-6 years in the Cendana Teacher Housing in Pekanbaru City. The value of the coefficient of determination is obtained which implies that the contribution of the influence of the father's role in child rearing on the child's independence is 19.30% while the remaining 80.70% is influenced by other variables outside the study.
