ABCTRACT
Statistical data from the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service of Meranti
Islands Regency shows a decrease in the number of fishermen with splints,
gombang and pengerih fishing gear from 2015 to 2017. The method used in this
study is a survey method with interview techniques and direct observation at the
coastal location of the operation of abraded splints, gombang and grinding gears.
Information related to fishing and coastal abrasion was obtained by using
interviews and distributing questionnaires.
The result of this research is that Rangsang Island has experienced an
abrasion of 5,484 ha with an average abrasion rate of 68,555 ha/year and an
accretion of 3933 with an accretion rate of 49.16 ha/year. 2. The largest abrasion
occurred at station I, Rangsang sub-district, which had an area of 1815 ha of
abrasion, then at station III, West Rangsang sub-district, with an abrasion area of
1780 ha and station II 1444 ha. 3. The number of fisherman with splints, gombang
and pengerih fishing gear at station I in 2015 – 2018 has decreased. Splinting
fishermen are 30, 27, 24, 22, respectively, gombang fishermen 80, 74, 30, 20,
while sore fishermen are 0. 4. Number of fisherman with splint, gombang and
