Pencegahan Kebakaran Lahan Gambut Berbasis Kearifan Lokal Pada Petani Sagu Di Desa Tanjung Peranap Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Barat Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
ABSTRACT
Tanjung Peranap Village is an area with a fairly wide distribution of
peatlands. The main livelihoods of the people of Tanjung Peranap Village are
farmers. Apart from farming, the people's livelihood is farming and raising
livestock. The most efficient way to deal with land fires in accordance with their
livelihoods is forest fire prevention activities so that peatlands still have economic
value. Countermeasures are carried out with local wisdom. The purpose of this
study was to determine the characteristics of sago farmers, to analyze the role of
local wisdom that still exists in dealing with ex-peatland fires, and to find out
between the characteristics of sago farmers and the role of local wisdom in
overcoming peatland fires in Tanjung Peranap Village, Tebing Tinggi Barat
District, Meranti Islands Regency. This research was conducted by sampling
method using snowball sampling to find farmers who match the criteria that have
been determined by purposive sampling method and Likert scale analysis tools,
descriptive analysis, and spearman rank analysis. The results of this study describe
that the average age of farmers is productive and educated, has the number of
dependents of the farmer's family, which is in the medium category, and has a
land area of >2 Ha with private ownership status. Meanwhile, instructors are
trainers or extension workers, support from community leaders, group roles,
information and communication media and government support are in the high
category. Peatland fire prevention efforts are identified in local knowledge
activities, aspects of local values, local skills, local resources, and local decisionmaking
mechanisms. The characteristics of farmers that have a relationship with
the role of local wisdom are age, information and communication media and
government support to the community.
