Studi Tentang Eksistensi Upacara Mangongkal Holi Dalam Masyarakat Batak Toba Di Kecamatan Panombean Panei Kabupaten Simalungun Provinsi Sumatera Utara

This research was motivated by the mangongkal holi ceremony (transfer
of bones) from someone who has died to a higher place in the Toba Batak society. This
ceremony has been going on since the ancestors of the Toba Batak people were not
familiar with religious teachings. With the development of an increasingly advanced
era, the mangongkal holi ceremony has undergone changes so that in practice and its
meaning has changed a lot. The purpose of this study is to find out how the existence of
the mangongkal holi ceremony isin the Toba Batak community in Panombean Panei
District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province. This research was conducted in
Panombean Panei District, using qualitative descriptive methods and data collection
techniques in this study were Interviews and Documentation. The informants in this
study were 7 people, namely Raja Parhata (Customary Leader), Traditional Institutions,
Families who had carried out the mangongkal holi ceremony , the Community, and
Youth. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the existence of
the mangongkal holi ceremony in the Toba Batak community in Panombean Panei
District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province still exists today, but in the
implementation process there are several stages that have not been carried out, and the
equipment used has been widely used. changes because there are more and more
alternative choices that can be used by the Toba Batak people in Panombean Panei
District.
