Efek Bortezomib Terhadap Ketebalan Tunika Intima-Media Pada Aorta Torakalis Tikus Yang Mengalami Aterosklerosis
Atherosclerosis comes from the Greek, which consists of two words, namely athero
which means porridge or paste and sclerosis which means hardening. So it can be
concluded that atherosclerosis is a condition of plaque buildup and hardening in
the walls of arteries. Atherosclerosis causes the accumulation of lipids and fibrous
tissue in blood vessels, thereby progressively narrowing the lumen of blood vessels
and will cause an increase in the thickness of the tunica intima-media. Bortezomib
is a proteasome inhibitor that was introduced as a therapy for multiple myeloma.
Bortezomib is a drug that has strong anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic
properties. Bortezomib has a role in inhibiting proteasome activity, so that it can
increase endothelial progenitor cell apoptosis and reduce eNOS/NO levels, so that
the administration of Bortezomib is expected to inhibit the process of
atherosclerosis. This study aims to determine the effect of bortezomib on the
thickness of the tunica intima-media in the thoracic aorta Rattus novergicus Wistar
strain male atherosclerosis model. The design of this research is an experimental
laboratory conducted in June-November 2021, the data obtained are quantitative
data. The results of this study showed that the highest mean thickness of the tunica
intima-media of the thoracic aorta was found in the atherosclerosis model group
and there was a significant difference between the atherosclerosis model group
without Bortezomib and the atherosclerosis model group given Bortezomib
