Pengembangan Modul Ekosistem Pesisir Berbasis Problem Based Learning Untuk Meningkat Motivasi Belajar Dan Sikap Peduli Lingkungan Terhadap Proses Belajar Siswa SMA Negeri 1 Kuala Kampar

21st century education demands a change in reorientation in learning,
namely (a) shifting the paradigm of teacher-centered learning (teacher-centered
learning) to student-centered learning (student-centered learning), self-directed
learning (independent learning) , (b) educators as a source of knowledge become
educators as learning partners, (c) fact-based learning becomes project-based
and problem-based learning, (d) individual learning (competitive) becomes
collaborative learning, (e) ) learning focused on problems in the classroom turned
into learning focused on social problems (Wijaya et al, 2016).
Changes in the reorientation in learning, the government seeks to improve
the quality of education, including the improvement of learning in the 2013
curriculum which includes all subjects including Biology. The 2013 curriculum
emphasizes learning with a scientific approach (Scientific approach) because this
learning is very in line with the theory of constructionist learning and through this
scientific approach can improve science process skills in students, including
observing, asking questions, reasoning, trying (performing experiments) and
forming networks. (communicating) (Hala et al, 2015). One of the learning that
emphasizes the scientific approach (Scientific approach) is learning biology.
The results of observations of coastal ecosystems found on Pengalai Island
were damaged, including mangrove degradation which caused abrasion resulting
in the loss of mangrove vegetation. This also causes the people's land to be
narrowed and lost. Other damage is caused by the tides which carry some organic
waste carried by the tides and attached to the surface of the beach making the
beach surface dirty so that sedimentation occurs on the beach surface.
Based on the results of interviews conducted in August 2019 with Biology
teachers at SMAN 1 Kuala Kampar, it was found that the learning process did not
utilize the surrounding environment as a learning resource at school. The
learning process that is not contextual and does not take advantage of local
potential causes the learning process in the classroom to not be optimal, so that it
becomes one of the causes of the low motivation to learn and the attitude of
caring for the environment in students. Utilization of local potential, especially
the coastal areas of the Pengalai Island area, in the learning process is still
rarely carried out by teachers and students, due to time constraints if students are
invited out of school to interact directly with objects in the learning process.
Learning resources used by students, both textbooks and worksheets, have not
accommodated students to take advantage of local potential, especially in the
coastal area, teachers in teaching focus on material in books and do not use
teaching materials that emphasize real problems in the surrounding environment
that can lead to caring attitudes. students towards the environment and students'
motivation to learn. There is no learning strategy that emphasizes the process of

full student involvement to find the material being studied and connect it to real
life situations so that it encourages students' motivation and environmental care
attitude to learn is still weak.
Based on the existing problems, it is necessary to improve the process
during teaching and learning activities in increasing students' motivation and
caring attitude in schools, namely by developing a Problem Based Learningbased
Coastal Ecosystem Module to increase learning motivation and
environmental care attitudes at SMAN 1 Kuala Kampar.
The results showed that the Development of the Coastal Ecosystem
Module based on Problem Based Learning was to increase learning motivation
and environmental care attitudes at SMAN 1 Kuala Kampar. its use in the
learning process developed got a score. The results of students' learning
motivation with an average value of 84.45 in the high category and the results of
students' environmental care with an average value of 78.18 in the good category.
