Science is studies about nature. Understanding the concept is one of the scientific products
in science learning. Concept understanding is the ability of an individual to understand a certain
concept. Lack of understanding of concepts can make misconceptions. Referring to this problem,
teachers need to make innovations in learning according to their needs. One of the efforts that can
be done is the application of the POE learning model and use educational games based on the
educandy application . This study aims to describe the understanding of student's concepts after the
application of the POE learning model assisted by educational games based on the educandy
application on temperature and heat material. This research was conducted from September to
December 2021 at SMPN 25 Pekanbaru. The population of this study were students of class VII
SMPN 25 Pekanbaru as many as 4 classes. A sample of 2 classes was selected using simple random
sampling technique . The research method used in this study is quasi-experimental , the
nonequivalent control group design type . The result of the research shows that the score of concept
understanding between the experimental class and the control class has increased . Hypothesis
testing was carried out by using the Independent Sample t-test and the results obtained a significance
value ( sig,2-tailed ), which was 0.000. so that H0 is rejected, it means that there is a significant
difference in the average value of concept understanding between the experimental class and the
control class after treatment.
