ABSTRACT
Irresponsible actions against the trade in horseshoecrab animals can cause
damage to natural reserves and natural sustainability areas as well as actions that
violate the provisions on the protection of plants and animals covered. The purpose
of writing this thesis, namely: First, knowing how the law enforcement process
against the traffickers of horseshoecrab animals based on Law No. 5 of 1990,
Second, knowing how prevention efforts carried out by the Police and conservation
centers against horseshoecrab animal traffickers.
This type of research is sociological juridical research, because the author
directly conducts research at the location or place of research to provide a complete
and clear picture of the problem. Research location in Rokan Hilir, Rokan Hilir
Police, DITPOLAIRUD Riau Police, and Natural Resources Conservation Center
(BKSDA) riau province.
From the results of the problem research there are two main things that can
be concluded. First, in the law enforcement process in the case of the sale of
horseshoecrab animals in Rokan Hilir coordination between the BKSDA and the
Riau Provincial Police, has been running, but there are still violations by selling
horseshoecrab. Both efforts are made to prevent the trade of horseshoecrab animals
by means of socialization by the BKSDA and the Police that horseshoecrab animals
are protected animals have not been maximal or have not been implemented
properly, because the public is not yet aware that horseshoecrab animals are
protected animals. Advice Author, the Police and BKSDA should be more assertive
and active in carrying out performance in processing cases of horseshoecrab animal
trafficking in accordance with the current law so that there is a deterrent effect for
the perpetrators of the horseshoecrab animal trade itself, the Police and BKSDA
should be more active in socializing to the community about horseshoecrab animals,
the public is more active in finding out about horseshoecrab animals.
