Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a benign prostate enlargement which found in
men, and some of which are related to age. BPH patients often complain
interference when urinating.Compliance is a term used to describe the behavior in
taking medication properly about dosage,Frequency and timing.Management of BPH
can be done by giving tamsulosin 0.4 mg to relax the smooth muscle of the prostate
gland and to improve the urine flow. To assess the symptoms experienced by the
patients, it can be assessed using the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS).
To assess the level of obedience on BPH patients for the given therapy can be
measured using the Morisky Medication Adcherence Scale (MMAS-8) questionnaire.
The purpose of this study is to observe how ipss’s score changes after the given of
tamsulosin 0.4 and assess the level of compliance of BPH patients during the Covid-
19 pandemic. The design of this study is an analytic study with a cross sectional
approach from August 2021 to December 2021. There are 40 BPH patients the
inclusion criteria. The results showed 87,5% patients witl mild IPSS and 95%
patients with severe IPSS after the medication. which from the results of the study
seen improvements after the given of tamsulosin. The Wilcoxon test showed a change
in severity after the administration of tamsulosin 0.4 mg (P< 0.000). The obedience
rate of drug use in BPH patients falls into the moderate category (57.85%). In
addition, there is no correlation between domicile with the rate of drug use in
pandemic times using the Chi-Square test (P =0.180).
