Efektivitas Pemberian Levofloksasin Oral Untuk Mencegah Terjadinya Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection (Cauti) Di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau
Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) is one of the most common
urinary tract infections, accounting for more than 30% of all infections in hospitals.
The infection is associated with increased mobility, mortality, resistance, and the
length of time bacteria grow in the urinary tract due to the use of urethra catheters.
The most common clinical symptoms of a CAUTI are fever, hematuria, suprapubic
or pelvic pain, and changes in urinary catheters. The diagnosis of CAUTI can be
established from clinical symptoms of fever with a positive urine culture result. This
study aims to find out the effectiveness of levofloxacin to prevent CAUTI in Arifin
Achmad General Hospital, Riau Province. This study was a prospective randomized
controlled single-blind. The study began from July 2021 - February 2022 at the
Urology Polyclinic of Arifin Achmad General Hospital, Riau Province. The sample
used as many as 14 people were divided into 2 groups, 7 people as a group that
were given levofloxacin treatment, and 7 more people without treatment. The
number of bacterial colonies will be analyzed in accordance withWHO regulations.
Test results were determined based on p0.05 (p =
0.721). And from the results of the culture obtained the most bacteria, namely E.coli
as much as 42.86%. This indicates the absence of a meaningful effect of levofloxacin
administration on the onset of infection in CAUTI cases.
