Abstract
Suwarnadwipa Island is located in Nagari Sungai Pinang, District XI Tarusan,
Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province. This research was carried out in
March 2020 with the determination of respondents using the accidental sampling
technique. This study aims to analyze the value of the economic valuation of
marine tourism on Suwarnadwipa Island, Nagari Sungai Pinang, District XI
Tarusan, Pesisir Selatan Regency, and calculate the carrying capacity of marine
tourism on Suwarnadwipa Island. This study uses the method of analysis of travel
costs. The travel cost method is a method that uses individual travel costs to
estimate the demand function for the site. This method can also be used to
estimate consumer surplus to calculate the ecotourism value of Suwarnadwipa
Island. This research was conducted in March 2020 with 30 visitor respondents by
accidental sampling. The results show that the condition of the tourist area does
not exceed the carrying capacity. The carrying capacity of the tourist area of
Suwarnadwipa Island is estimated at 12.860 visitors with a total area of 482,500
m2 including land and water zones. Furthermore, the number of visits to
Suwarnadwipa Island is influenced by the variables of travel costs, distance,
education level and gender of visitors. The magnitude of the influence affects the
number of visits. Consumer surplus is IDR 546,548. individually per visit. So that
the economic value of Suwarnadwipa Island is estimated at IDR
5,085,920,258.00, - year.
