ABSTRACT
Tebing Tinggi Timur District is a center for the development of sago plantations in
Kepulauan Meranti Regency. Sago plantations in Tebing Tinggi Timur District
have been cultivated for generations with local wisdom as an effort to optimize the
land which is 80% peat. The purpose of this study was to determine the application
of cultivation techniques and analyze the income of sago farming. The method used
is descriptive analysis and analysis of agricultural income. The respondents
consisted of 30 sago farmers. The results of the analysis of sago cultivation
techniques showed that the sago cultivation techniques in Tebing Tinggi Timur
District were not in accordance with the recommendations, while the income of
sago farming showed a total profit of IDR 5,314,349.48 per year per ha. Sago
commodities can be processed into various kinds of processed food and non-food
products. Sago processed products in East Tebing Tinggi District are very diverse,
but not all of them are produced on an industrial basis. The main product of sago in
this area is wet sago flour which is processed into various derivative products such
as sago crackers, sago noodles and sago sugar. The presence of these processed
products will increase the added value of sago. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze
the added value of wet sago flour and processed products of wet sago flour so that
it will be known which processed products provide the greatest added value. The
sago agroindustry has various related parties in marketing its processed products.
Needed most efficient channel for get price best in do activity Commerce on
product processed sago. By because that, needed analysis about channel sago trade
so that could known channel which one is more efficient .
