ABSTRACT
The crime of theft with violence that occurs in the jurisdiction of the
Padang Police, generally occurs because of the environment in which the
perpetrator lives, his association and economic life. Against law enforcement that
has been carried out but has not realized the legal desires of the people of Padang
City against the crime of theft with violence into reality. The purpose of this thesis
writer, namely; First, to know the form of handling the crime of theft with violence
in the Padang City Police, Second, to know the weaknesses faced by the Padang
city police in dealing with the crime of theft with violence.
This type of research can be classified in the type of sociological research,
because in this study the author directly conducts research on the location or
place under study in order to provide a complete and clear picture of the problem
under study. This research was conducted in the jurisdiction of the Padang City
Police, while the population and sample are all parties related to the problems
studied in this study, the data sources used, primary data, secondary data, and
tertiary data, data collection techniques in this study are interviews,
questionnaires, and literature review, data analysis in this study compiled
qualitative descriptive.
From the results of the research problem there are two main things that
can be concluded. First, the form of overcoming the crime of theft with violence
carried out by the Padang City Police, is by carrying out preventive and
repressive efforts. Second, the weaknesses faced by the Padang City Police in
tackling the crime of theft with violence, is the lack of motivation and empathy of
the community in reporting incidents of criminal acts of theft with violence in the
jurisdiction of the Padang City Police. Author's advice, First, overcoming the
crime of theft with violence by the Padang City Police should also be supported
by the participation of the community, especially people who are in the legal area
of the Padang City Police Resort. Second, there is a need for legal socialization in
an effort to increase public legal awareness to dare to report criminal acts that
occur in the community, because with empathy and public legal awareness in
reporting criminal acts that occur can support the performance of law
enforcement officers in eradicating a crime, especially the crime of theft with
violence in the jurisdiction of the City of Padang.
