Hubungan Derajat Keasaman (Ph) Kulit Dengan Derajat Akne Vulgaris Di Kota Pekanbaru

Skin is a special organ in human body that have function for maintain
human health. One of skin’s function is to protect human by physical barriers,
biomolecules and skin pH. Normal skin has an acidic pH, with pH value of 4,1-5,8.
Increase of pH value can causing pathogenic microorganism growth. At the pH
value 6 there is an increase of Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) which is
contribute in acne vulgaris inflamation. The purpose of this study was to determine
the correlation between acidity (pH) skin and severity of acne vulgaris in
Pekanbaru City. This research is a correlative analytic study with cross-sectional
research design. Sample total of this study is 25 people with acne vulgaris that taken
by consecutive sampling method. The data obtained were analyzed using Somer’s
D correlation test. The result of statistical analysis of acidity (pH) skin with severity
of acne vulgaris showed that there is no significant correlation (p value= 0,06)
between acidity (pH) skin and severity of acne vulgaris. The conclusion of this study
is there is no correlation between acidity (pH) skin and severity of acne vulgaris.
