Pengaruh Ekstrak Buah Rhizophora Sp Terhadap Pembentukan Kolagen Pada Tubulus Ginjal Tikus Aterosklerosis
Hyperlipidemia is one of the causes of atherosclerosis and also plays a role
in kidney injury. The hallmark of kidney injury is deposition of extracellular matrix,
such as collagen. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of mangrove
(Rhizophora sp.) fruit extract on collagen formation as a marker of kidney injury
in renal tubules of atherogenic diet-fed rats (Rattus norvegicus). Sixteen paraffin
blocks of Rattus norvegicus rat’s kidney were used in this study which consisted of
3 groups: standard diet (K1), atherogenic diet(K2), amd atherogenic diet and
(Rhizophora sp). fruit extract (K3). The Rhizophora sp. fruit extract effect on
collagen formation in renal tubules was assessed by histochemical examination
using sirius red staining. Collagen area was counted in 5 fields of a microsopic
view. Area of collagen in tubules was counted using Photoshop Image Analysis
Program. The results showed that collagen area in the atherogenic diet group is
higher than standard diet group (0,759 vs 0,078 p=0,015). Rhizophora sp. fruit
extract reduced the collagen formation in tubules (0,759 vs 0,255 p=0,038). In
conclusion Rhizophora sp. fruit extract inhibits the collagen formation in tubules
in atherogenic diet-fed rats.
