Eksistensi Gereja GPIB Bethel Sebagai Situs Cagar Budaya Di Kota Tanjung Pinang (1992-2020)
GPIB Bethel Church is one of the oldest churches in the Riau
Archipelago. This church is located on Jln. Church No. 1, Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands.
The church is one of the Cultural Conservation Sites in Tanjungpinang City and is one
of the evidences of the Dutch heritage who came to Tanjungpinang. The objectives of
this study are (1) to find out the early history of the establishment of the Tanjungpinang
GPIB Bethel Church, (2) to find out the existence and uniqueness of the Tanjungpinang
GPIB Bethel Church as a Tanjungpinang Cultural Heritage Site, and (3) to determine
the role of the government and society in protecting the existence of the GPIB Bethel
Tanjungpinang church. This research is a qualitative research with the historical
method or Historical Research. The historical method is a process of reconstructing
past events through steps that refer to the historical method. This method consists of
several stages including heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography.
Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews, and
documentation. The results of this study are the existence of the Bethel GPIB Church in
terms of being a cultural heritage site with two aspects, namely the existence of
protection and development, in terms of places of worship which are still used since
they were founded or since they were inaugurated as cultural heritage sites, and finally
in terms of tourism. which is visited by many tourists from abroad. Not only that, there
is a role for the government and society regarding this Church
