Pengaruh Non Process Element (Npe) Terhadap Lime Kiln #6 Performance

ABSTRACT
Recausticizing Lime Kiln are one of area in PT. RAPP that responsible to produce
cooking liquor (white liquor) to cook wood chips in digester. Causticizing reaction
result the side product called lime mud (CaCO3) which able to turn into lime (CaO).
This process need lime kiln unit to burn the lime mud and react to form lime through
calcination reaction. The quality of product determined by several factors, where
one of the main factor is non process element (NPE) excistence. Non process
element (NPE) are unimportant elements and does not need on process or usually
called as impurities. NPE comes from various source, like raw material (wood),
make-up chemicals, process water, equipment, and other things. On this research,
writer do analysis against NPE impact to lime mud quality (dryness), energy
consumption, and also active CaO in burnt lime. The result of analysis shows that
1% increase of lime mud dryness will give impact to energy consumption around
0.1517 MMBtu/ton. 0.1% increase of SiO2 will decrease the lime mud dryness
around 0.75%, so the energy required is 0.1138 MMBtu/ton. 0.1% increase of MgO
will decrease the lime mud dryness around 3.86%, so the energy required is 0.5238
MMBtu/ton. 0.1% increase of Al2O3 will decrease the lime mud dryness around
0.67%, so the energy required is 0.1016 MMBtu/ton. While 0.1% increase of P2O5
will decrease the active CaO in burnt lime around 0.29%.
