Analisa Parameter Felt Compaction Dan Pengaruhnya Terhadap Roughness Kertas
ABSTRACT
Paper is a sheet consisting of cellulose fibers that have been milled and added
additives such as fillers and chemicals that are intertwined. The paper industry
must be able to produce paper with the quality that match the spesification
desired by consumers. One of the paper quality that is highly maintained in the
paper industry is paper roughnes and there’s many parameters that affect paper
roughnes and one of them being the felt at press section. Felt works as stock
transport in the press, and to reach the roughness target, felt must be compact.
This report contains an analysis of the felt compaction parameters and their effect
on paper roughness. Parameters that affect the compaction of felt are Nip
Loading, Start Up Shower and Vacuum Uhle box. The result analysis of this final
project during three period of time is the compaction felt occurs on the first week
after changing the new felt with a life time of felt is ±30 days; when the total
dewatering value is stabil, the felt has compacted; the high nip loading parameter
at the beginning of the use of felt was 680 kN/m then stabilized on the compaction
felt day; the start up shower value was high at the beginning of the use of felt
which was 100%, then stabilized on the compaction felt day; the uhle box vacuum
value was low at the beginning of the use of felt; the range value is (-0.2)-(-0.23)
bar Pick Up Roll, (-0.05)-(-0.08) bar 1st Top Press and – 0.15 bar 2nd Bottom
Press, then that increased after the felt was compacted; the range value of
roughness before the compaction felt was 278-290 TS and 224-255 BS with a
calendar loading value of 18 kN, when felt was compacted, the roughness value
near the target that’s 240-267 TS and 237-245 BS with a calendar loading value
of 19-20 kN/m.
