CUBE TESTING OBJECTS USING HAMMER TEST AND
COMPRESSION TESTING MACHINE

ABSTRACT
This study examines the comparison of the compressive strength of concrete
on cube specimens using the Hammer Test and using a compression testing
machine (Compression Testing Machine). Concrete strength testing is divided
into two categories, namely tests carried out by loading / pressing until the test
object is damaged, from this test information will be obtained about the strength
and mechanical properties of the material (destructive test) and tests carried out
without damaging the test object / material (non -destructive tests). Several
factors that will affect the results of the analysis of this test include the
smoothness and flatness of the surface of the test area, the direction of impact and
the number of points taken, resulting in less accurate compressive strength values.
Therefore, the determination of the concrete compressive strength accurately can
be determined by a laboratory (destructive) test using a compression testing
machine.
The purpose of this study was to compare the results of testing using the
Hammer Test and using a concrete compressive strength testing machine
(Compression Testing Machine) on thesample test cubemeasuring 15 cm x 15 cm
x 15 cm as many as 20 samples with 3 different qualities (K -175, K-225, K-300)
and a compressive strength testing machine on a cube specimen measuring 15 cm
x 15 cm x 15 cm as many as 20 specimens at a concrete age of 28 days.
The results of this study indicate that the compressive strength test using a
hammer test and a strength testing machine has a difference in compressive
strength of K-175 quality ranging from 4.13%, K-225 ranging from 0.65%, and
ranging from 8.61%.
