RECEPTION OF RIAU UNIVERSITY STUDENT ON HEDONIC LIFESTYLE IN TIKTOK ACCOUNT @SISCAKOHL

TikTok allows its users to create instant videos with all its features. One of the viral and controversial TikTok accounts is the TikTok account @siscakohl. The content created by the TikTok account @siscakohl reflects a luxurious and extravagant lifestyle. Based on the researcher's observations, this has also become a controversy among Riau University students. For this reason, the meaning and acceptance of Riau University students is an interesting matter for further research.
This research is a qualitative research with a constructivist paradigm. Data collection techniques are through Focus Discussion Groups (FGD), in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. There were ten informants in this study who were determined using a purposive technique. The data analysis technique used is reception analysis method which consists of data collection, data analysis and data interpretation. While the technique of checking the validity of the data using source triangulation.
The results of this study indicate that the ten informants perceive the hedonic lifestyle on the TikTok @siscakohl account differently. In terms of the meaning of the hedonic lifestyle on the TikTok account @siscakohl, nine out of ten informants received it dominantly. Then another informant was in an opposition position because he thought it was just a content strategy for profit. Furthermore, regarding the acceptance of hedonic lifestyle content on the TikTok account @siscakohl, seven out of ten informants received it dominantly. One informant is in a negotiating position. Where the informant accepts the content, but also considers the content to be too excessive. Furthermore, two more informants are in opposition. Where the informant assesses the content can have a negative impact and is considered too excessive. The differences in the backgrounds of the ten informants are also influenced by several factors such as religion, parental upbringing, economy, education, as well as the interests and habits of the informants in perceiving the hedonic lifestyle on the @siscakohl TikTok account.
