Pengaruh Penambahan Sekam Padi Terhadap Sifat Fisik Dan Mekanik Produk Batu Bata Merah
ABSTRACT
With the continued increase in rice productivity in Indonesia, it will certainly be comparable to the rice husks produced. The purpose of adding rice husks in this study was to determine the effect of adding rice husks on the quality of the red brick products produced with variations of 0%, 2%, 4%, 6% 8%, and to reduce the weight of the bricks themselves. Making samples of brick test specimens using a block-shaped mold with a size of 23x11x5.5 cm. Making bricks with a mixture of clay, water and rice husk, in the drying process in beds is carried out 2-7 days then traditional burning for 3 x 24 hours. Then the bricks were tested for physical and mechanical properties. Based on the test results, namely the appearance properties of bricks in general have angularity, flatness, flat areas and a loud sound and have a yellowish white color, size or dimensions with an average length of 222.1 mm, an average width of 106.53mm average thickness of 54.6 mm (type M-6), apparent density values ranging from 1.19 - 1.65 gram/cm³, water absorption values ranging from 16% - 36%, specific gravity values obtained 1.08 -1.46 and the highest compressive strength value is obtained at 2% variation, namely 11.8 kg/cm² and the lowest compressive strength value at 8% variation, namely 5.17 kg/cm².
