Karakteristik Marshall Dari Aspal Modifikasi Dengan Lateks Pekat Pada Campuran Aspal Beton Lapis Pengikat
ABSTRACT
Asphalt modification is one way to improve the performance of asphalt mixtures.The material for asphalt modification used can be natural substance such as concentrated latex. Concentrated latex is fresh latex that has been processed and its rubber content concentrated. This study uses concentrated latex as a modified material with the aim of knowing the effect of adding concentrated latex on the properties of modified asphalt, Marshall characteristics of modified AC-BC mixture, and the most optimum percentage of asphalt content and latex content with reference to the General Specifications of Highways 2018 Revision 2 Years 2020. The method used is laboratory testing by varying the addition of concentrated latex to asphalt with six variations, namely 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%. Marshall test was carried out for each variation in order to obtain Marshall characteristics of the mixture at optimum asphalt content conditions. The results of asphalt testing showed that the addition of concentrated latex to asphalt can increase the softening point, flash point, viscosity, weight loss, and elasticity of asphalt, and also can decrease penetration, ductility, and specific gravity of asphalt. Meanwhile, the results of the Marshall test showed that the use of modified asphalt with concentrated latex in the modified AC-BC mixture could increase the stability, Marshall Quotient, VFA, and unit weight of the mixture, and showed a decrease in the VMA and VIM values of the mixture. The optimum conditions for the modified AC-BC mixture were obtained for a mixture with an asphalt content of 4.955% with a concentrated latex content of 8% for asphalt, where the mixture achieved a Marshall stability value of 1,877.55 kg, a flow value of 3.33 mm, Marshall Quotient of 564.40 kg/mm, VIM of 3.20%, VMA of 14.13%, and VFA of 77.39%.
