ABSTRACT
The Sunda clouded leopard (Neofelis diardi) is a carnivorous animal (meat-eaters), as well as a member of the cat-and-mouse family or the felidae family, which includes mammals and warm-blooded animals. Based on data obtained from camera traps installed in Sumatra, clouded leopards can be found in hilly and lowland areas, such as lowland forests, peatlands, shrubs, and in acacia plantation areas (Hutajulu et al., 2007). There is a clouded leopard in the Tesso Nilo National Park area, which is a nature conservation area that has an original ecosystem, is managed by a zoning system, and is used to save endangered animals, including the Sunda clouded leopard. This research was conducted with the aim of: Knowing the Population Density and Distribution of the clouded leopard that has been photographed on the Trap camera and knowing the characteristics of the vegetation of the clouded leopard habitat. The method used in this study uses camera traps and field surveys by making sample plots around one of the points where the clouded leopard was found in the previous camera installation. The types of data used in this study include primary and secondary data. The results showed that the clouded leopard was found in Tesso Nilo National Park as many as one female individual, with a density value of (4 individuals/100 km2). The distribution of clouded leopards in the Tesso Nilo area was found on grid H21 at an altitude of 63 meters above sea level. The characteristics of the vegetation that became the habitat of the clouded leopard in Tesso Nilo at the seedling level were dominated by yellow medang (Alseodaphne oblanceolate), red chelate sapling (Syzygium palembanicum), pole level, and mepening tree (Lithocarpus sp). Dense vegetation conditions can help clouded leopards in reconnaissance of their prey.
