ABSTRACT
Garbage s leftovers or waste from the use of a product that s not reused by the owner. inappropriate processing such as accumulation and scattered waste s a problem n big cities. To overcome this problem, waste processing that pays attention to the type of waste, the amount of waste, and the speed at which waste s disposed of can overcome accumulation and scattered waste. This thesis designs an Internet of thoughts (IoT) based smart trash can that can overcome this problem. This design uses proximity and infrared sensors to detect the type of waste and ultrasonic sensors to measure the height of the waste. The read garbage height data will be sent via the NodeMCU ESP8266 to the website. When the trash can s detected full, the selenoid will lock the door automatically and a notification will be sent when the height of the trash can s less than 4 cm. Location points are added to make t easier for cleaners to transport garbage. The results of the design test, this tool can distinguish the type of waste with four samples, namely: leaves, paper (Organic), plastic food, and perfume cans (Inorganic), the ultrasonic sensor successfully reads the height of the waste at a distance of 14 cm, 9cm, and 3 cm. The data read by the sensor s successfully sent to the website and displayed correctly. Notifications when full trash has been sent via telegram. When the trash can s full, the selenoid manages to lock the door automatically. The location point was successfully added to the website. The average delay obtained during the three test days was 2.859 s.
